The Canadian Air Transport
security Authority is renewing an appeal to
air travellers a year after Canada adopted
restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols.
In spite of the year-old regulations,
numerous air travellers continue to arrive
at the pre-board screening checkpoint with
over-sized quantities of bottled water,
perfume, shampoo, hair gel, and other
toiletries.
ONLINE CUSTOMERS UNHAPPY
As per the findings of survey, commissioned
by Tealeaf, a US specialist in customer
experience management software solutions,
about 87 percent of consumers conducting
transactions online have experienced
problems. This year's survey highlights
online consumer intolerance, as 42 percent
of those who have experienced problems when
conducting online transactions have switched
to a competitor or abandoned the transaction
entirely, and another 52 percent who have
experienced bad customer service from a
company's contact center, following an
online issue, have completely stopped doing
business with the company.
Obesity costing airlines and
passengers By Geoffrey Thomas-
IN 2000 it was estimated by the American
Journal of Preventative Medicine that the
increasing "weight of passengers was costing
the US airline industry $US275 million ($313
million) for the additional 300 million
gallons (1135 litres) of fuel required to
lift the extra pounds". Seven years on, with
fuel up 145 per cent, that cost has
ballooned to $673 million, but so has the
weight of passengers - and not just in the
US. The World Heath Organization states that
today more people (1.7 billion) are obese
than malnourished, and the rate is
increasing at an alarming rate. So are
complaints from passengers forced to sit
next to obese passengers. Through the 1990s,
the average weight of Americans jumped by
4.5kg, according to the US Centre for
Disease Control and Prevention.
